The mission and purpose of the Memphis Leadership Foundation is to proclaim the Whole Gospel to the Whole City through the empowerment of leaders and the development of ministries/programs that focus on the needs of under-resourced people and communities.
Our four-fold mission holistically meet the needs of urban poor men, women, boys and girls who live in under-resourced communities by:
• Providing necessary resources for urban churches and Christian organizations to strengthen their existing ministries with urban people.
• Partnering and networking with urban churches and Christian organizations in order to create new ministries when and where necessary.
• Serving as a "conduit" for urban & suburban churches as they seek avenues for valid urban missions and partnerships in Memphis.
•Empowering indigenous leadership to minister effectively through creative programming.

empower the unemployed, the lost, the weary and the
hurting in and through the name of Jesus Christ, who is
able to bring wholeness to broken lives.”
- Larry Lloyd, Founder
In 1986, Dr. Larry Lloyd founded the Memphis Leadership Foundation (MLF) through a $10,000 seed grant from World Vision International. Since then, the MLF has grown to include 18 ministries, with combined budgets well over $7 million dollars. Each ministry is categorized according to the level of support that the Memphis Leadership Foundation provides. For example, our operational ministries are fully supported by the MLF, our partner ministries have their own 501(c)3 status and receive some support (such as administrative assistance), and our affiliate ministries have reached the point where they are not, necessarily, supported by the MLF, but are partners and co-laborers with us in many of our efforts.
As a whole, the MLF maintains a proven track record of being a proactive intermediary in responding to the needs of the urban community.

Connect Leaders. Change Lives. Transform Cities.
What happens when the vision and resources of a city’s leaders get connected?
Thousands of lives change and entire communities are transformed.
Leadership Foundations of America (LFA) is an international network of local faith-based organizations called leadership foundations that:
- Build bridges and working relationships across a city's faith leaders, congregations, and ministries to improve the lives of the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized.
- Develop joint initiatives that rebuild lives and neighborhoods.
- Build the capacity of leaders and groups to bring larger-scale community renewal.
Our network brings together local faith and community leaders, churches, social service groups, and other organizations to tackle the most difficult problems facing the poor in our cities. Working together as a team, each leader and group brings its resources. Successes are shared with leaders and cities in LFA’s network.
